Here’s an overview of all four learning style types. You are not exclusively a visual learner, auditory learner, or a kinesthetic learner, but an amalgamation of different. Tactile learners benefit from hands-on experiences and learning by doing, including drawing, playing with clay, with puzzles, dancing, modeling, and role-play. Physical language learners thrive from touching and manipulating materials. It is also important to mention that this model does not replace the important process of defining and addressing each person’s needs outside their preferred method of learning. The four core learning styles in the VARK model include visual, auditory, reading and writing, and kinesthetic. To cut to the chase, the idea that a person has one learning style is a myth. Physical, Kinesthetic, or Tactile Learners. Accordingly, the VARK model doesn’t assign one modality to each person but proposes that people generally prefer a certain type (or types) of learning to others. You have only to think back on your own experience to determine that it’s possible to learn using multiple modalities, either interchangeably or simultaneously. Auditory learners learn through listening. Summarizing there are 4 different modes: visual, auditory, reading/writing, physical/kinaesthetic. Multimodal learning is a great tool especially if you want to improve the quality of your teaching. Of course, overlap among these styles is inevitable. Also, it can be useful to colour code your notes, to create more visual stimulation. It improves the understanding, cooperation, and expression skills of students. Auditory learners tend to be real chatterboxes, and enjoy talking to themselves or providing a running commentary on what theyre doing. Group discussions and lectures are the domain of auditory learners, compared to the quiet isolation of a library. Many people use a combination of learning styles, whereas others learn best by using just one. There are three primary learning styles: Visual. Your learning style influences the way you understand information and solve problems. The aural (or auditory) learner, meanwhile, best retains information when it is presented orally through words and sounds. It may depend on your individual learning style.
